NewYork-Presbyterian Launches Community Fund to Address Social Determinants of Health
BCW Member NewYork-Presbyterian has announced the launch of its Community Fund Program designed to provide funding to community-based organizations in New York City and Westchester County addressing social determinants of health. With the announcement of this opportunity, NewYork-Presbyterian is launching a significant grant program to invest in the communities it serves. NewYork-Presbyterian aims to support both targeted, scaled programs that address New Yorkers’ immediate and longer-term needs, as well as work that seeks to change the underlying conditions shaping health disparities.
In 2022, NewYork-Presbyterian completed its triennial Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to gain an updated understanding of the needs, assets, and priorities of the local communities that its 10-campus hospital system serves. Six communities were identified as high priority, including two right here in Westchester – Mt. Vernon and Peekskill. Although projects do not need to solely benefit one or more of these communities, awards will be limited to projects that impact one or more of these local neighborhoods in a demonstrable way.
Although education and food insecurity, were identified as priorities, due to existing hospital-based programming this grant opportunity will focus solely on the following:
- Social Isolation
- Housing Insecurity
- Unemployment and Economic Recovery
Funding will be awarded based on a competitive application process, and grants will range from $80,000 – $150,000 a year for up to two years, with a maximum award of $300,000. Deadline to apply is Friday, June 2, 2023.
An information session with open Q&A will be held on Monday, May 22nd, 2023, at 11 AM. To register visit: https://nyph.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwsdeyvqzoiGNYRlHDrmkG6ka5rvhNFlqWh#/registration
