In a rare opportunity to engage face-to-face with a nationally recognized business leader, a small group of BCW members recently met with Beth E. Mooney, Chairman and CEO of KeyCorp, the parent company of KeyBank, at an invitation-only VIP breakfast reception held May 5 at the BCW’s boardroom.
Mooney talked about the importance of creating a corporate culture that meets the needs of today’s workers which is critical to recruiting and retaining talent, a topic of great interest to BCW members and the focus of a major BCW initiative. She also discussed KeyBank’s growth opportunities in Westchester and the Hudson Valley and emphasized the bank’s strong commitment to the communities it serves. She highlighted KeyBank’s $16.5 billion National Community Benefits Plan, which represents significant commitments in lending, investing and transformative philanthropy to underserved markets across Key’s 15-state footprint over the next five years.
Mooney also listened to BCW members who provided their perspectives on Westchester’s economic landscape. “For our members to engage in a meaningful dialogue with a corporate thought leader of the stature of Beth Mooney is really extraordinary. This is yet another example of the high quality programming that the Business Council provides its members,” said BCW President and CEO Marsha Gordon.
Mooney, who joined KeyCorp in 2006, was recently named the Most Powerful Woman in Banking in the nation by American Banker for the second year in a row. She was also named one of Fortune’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business.” Mooney has more than three decades of experience in retail banking, commercial lending and real estate financing. She has been Chairman and CEO since 2011.
