The City of Yonkers is ready for its close-up.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Emmy Award-Winning Producer / Great Point Studios Founder, Robert Halmi were on hand on July 1 at Times Square for the debut of a large digital billboard positioning Yonkers as “Hollywood on Hudson,” a brand which is copyrighted.

With a surge in production studios, A-list shoots, and economic investment, Yonkers is redefining the future of film in the region. This high-profile moment marks a turning point for Yonkers—and a spotlight that’s here to stay.

“What started out as a vision more than a decade ago has turned Yonkers into truly becoming Hollywood on Hudson. Yonkers is now home to the single largest TV and film production site in the Northeast,” said Mayor Spano.

The billboard’s HD LED screen, which located in the heart of Times Square Plaza, will be running for three months. Known as “The Crossroads of the World,” Times Square attracts over 250,000 visitors every day.

Yonkers has emerged as a major center for TV and film production with more than 10 studios and six more under construction. It is also home to Lionsgate Studios’ one million-square-foot complex, which is the largest TV and film production hub in the Northeast.

Last month the City of Yonkers launched a multi-platform advertising campaign aimed at reinforcing Yonkers reputation as “Hollywood on Hudson.” The ad campaign includes TV commercials, bus exteriors, billboards, MTA car cards on trains, paid social and organic social.
