Westchester Institute for Human Development Celebrates New Mobile Dental Clinic

The Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD), a BCW member, joined with state and local officials this week to celebrate the unveiling of its new Mobile Dental Clinic, a state-of-the-art dentist office on wheels that provides dental services to children and adults with disabilities throughout the region.
The nearly 39-foot long Winnebago replaces an obsolete and aging van that WIHD has been using to provide dental services to the region. The new vehicle is designed with contemporary countertops, cabinetry and flooring along with an all new compressor, vacuum, and dental delivery system to operate two dental suites. It is equipped with the latest dental care equipment including two dental chairs, hand-held x-ray equipment, sterilizing lab, cabinets, stools and special wheelchair lift and door. The van’s exterior is attractively branded with WHID’s logo and bright teal colors.
“We are delighted to unveil this beautiful new Mobile Dental Clinic which will allow us to better serve individuals with severe disabilities who have significant barriers to proper and regular access to dental care,” said Dr. Susan Fox, President and CEO of WIHD, and co-chair of the BCW’s Not-for-Profit Council.
“Our dedicated dental staff and all agency staff and clients we serve are very excited to see our new van with its amazing and eye-catching graphics pull up to the site and receive their dental care in a more modern environment. The WIHD Dental program continues to reach out to the community with the goal of improving and maintaining good oral health for the special population we serve.” said Dr. Pat Seagriff, WIHD Dental Director.
