THE PICTURE HOUSE PELHAM HOSTS SCREENING OF SMALL TOWN; BIG HOPE PELHAM LOVE FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION WITH FILMMAKER JEFF WATKINS

 Complimentary Screenings Part of Juneteenth Celebrations

Thursday, June 16th at 7:00 p.m. and throughout the afternoon on Sunday, June 18th

June 2022 – Pelham, NYThe Picture House Regional Film Center (www.thepicturehouse.org) announced today complimentary screenings of the new short film Small Town, Big Hope: Pelham Love at the Pelham location at 175 Wolfs Lane. In this incisive documentary, Pelham-based filmmaker, educator, and TPH board member Jeff Watkins examines Pelham’s racial divides in the wake of George Floyd’s death, providing a portrait of a community asking itself questions and trying to carve out a path for its future.

There will be a question and answer session with Jeff Watkins following the screening on June 16th at 7:00 pm. The public can also see Small Town, Big Hope: Pelham Love on June 18th, when The Picture House will play the film throughout the afternoon, as part of Pelham’s Juneteenth Celebration.

Of the event, Watkins said: “It’s deeply meaningful to be able to bring this film to The Picture House and watch it with the community here. It’s imperative that we continue to have hard conversations about our shared values and our humanity as part of this small town. This film screening and discussion is a vital opportunity to come together and listen to each other.”
