San Francisco High-Tech Tool Company moves to Peekskill in What Could be Start of Incubator Row

High-tech manufacturer Bantam Tools opened the doors to its new headquarters in Peekskill on Monday with company founder Bre Pettis saying he envisions this as a start of an “incubator” row in the city’s downtown.

“This really marks our first step toward creating a hub of sustainable innovation in the Hudson Valley,” Pettis said at Monday’s ribbon-cutting and tour of the company facility.

Bantam Tools, which moved from the tech hub San Francisco Bay area, makes among other things computerized desktop machines that designers and engineers use to create three-dimensional prototypes. Bantam’s milling machines have a wide range of uses, from design of motherboards for tech devices to works crafted by jewelry designers.

The company plans to employ 50 or more designers, engineers, technicians, assembly workers, marketing and sales staff. It’s investing more than $5.3 million in the 8,700-square-foot headquarters/manufacturing facility at 135 N. Water St.

“This is really going to change the future of our city,” Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey said.

Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester who attended Monday’s opening, said that Bantam Tools was an impressive operation that would help attract similar companies to the area.

“Bantam Tools is just the type of high-tech company that will keep momentum going in the City of Peekskill,” she said. “We are very encouraged by Mr. Petits’ plans for future growth and welcome him to Westchester.”
