Westchester’s supermarket scene is about to become even more super with the eagerly awaited debut of the new Wegmans Food Market in Harrison. Get your shopping carts ready when the doors open at 9 am on Wednesday August 5.

Located at 106 Corporate Park Drive, the 121,000-square-foot store will feature a market cafe with a huge selection of prepared foods. There will also be a coffee bar, a casual restaurant known as The Burger Bar, a seafood market and cheese shop. Some 70,000 items will be on the shelves.

Wegmans is inviting area residents to sign up with an account on its website that can be used to preorder groceries for curbside pickup or delivery. It also has an app for ordering prepared foods and meals.

The store is equipped to handle the safety requirements of the pandemic. Hand-sanitizer stations are available throughout the store and cashiers are asked to sanitize their workspace and hands in between each customer. Plexiglas® shields are also installed at all of registers and will be installed in additional areas, as well. The store is also going to feature a live cam to see if there’s a line to enter the store and determine the best time to stop in.

The new store is also a boost for Westchester’s economy with approximately 500 employees, most of whom are from the local area. The company has been operating an employee recruitment office at 1133 Westchester Ave. “This is very exciting news for Westchester County at a time when our economy is struggling. Wegmans is a world-class company and Westchester is fortunate to have them here,” said BCW President and CEO Marsha Gordon.
