News12 Will Now be Carried on Verizon’s Fios Cable System

Verizon and Altice USA have announced a partnership that will bring News12 to Verizon’s Fios cable system beginning in November.

Early in 2020, Fios customers will also be offered i24News, an Altice news service covering international and national news, which has a U.S. operation while being based in Tel Aviv. They also will be offered Altice’s Cheddar service, a business news network.

“We’re all about choice for our customers, and these channel additions bring our customers even more options for robust news and hyperlocal offerings on the Fios channel lineup,” Verizon head of content strategy Erin McPherson said in a press release.

Verizon had been offering the Fios1 News service produced by RNN in Rye Brook to subscribers in Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey. Verizon and RNN, however, failed to reach an agreement on the renewal of its 10-year contract ending Nov. 15 for Fios1 News.

Jon Steinberg, founder and CEO of Cheddar, who heads the Altice News unit, said: “Emmy-award winning News 12 is a leading, trusted hyperlocal news brand in the New York Tri-State area, and we’re excited to make News 12 as well as Cheddar and i24NEWS available to Fios customers as we continue to advance Altice as a leader in hyperlocal, national, business and international news.”
