Entergy Announces $50,000 in grants for COVID-19 Related Relief

Entergy’s Indian Point Energy Center granted a total of $50,000 to four local non-profits in direct support of COVID-19 relief efforts. “For many people in Westchester, the crisis has left them food insecure. That’s not something we can fix with a vaccine and we won’t need a test to know that it’s there,” said Matt Honeycutt, VP Development of Feeding Westchester. “Generous donations, like this one from Entergy, helps Feeding Westchester as we continue to work to meet the needs of the countless, local families upended by this crisis.”

Awards have been made to the following organizations.

  • Feeding Westchester ($20,000) Helping Westchester’s largest food bank meet the rising need for food, especially children no longer receiving daily meals at schools.
  • United Way of Westchester & Putnam County ($15,000) Helping to fund United Way’s 211 Helpline resource referrals.
  • Cortlandt Volunteer Ambulance Corps ($10,000) Helping Cortlandt EMS re-supply PPE supplies and decontamination materials.
  • Volunteer NY! ($5,000) Helping to ensure their team can continue to effectively and efficiently operate the Virtual Volunteer Center through June 30, 2020.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has hit some of the most vulnerable in this region the hardest,” said Indian Point’s site vice president and top official, Tony Vitale. “We are pleased to be able to assist some of the organizations who play a critical role helping those most affected during this crisis.” In addition, Entergy’s shareholders agreed to match employees’ contributions to United Way relief efforts dollar for dollar up to $100,000.
