CEAC Launches Energy-Saving Seminar Series for Westchester Educators

The Clean Energy Action Coalition (CEAC), an initiative of the Business Council of Westchester (BCW), is launching a new seminar series aimed at accelerating clean energy adoption within the public education sector.

The first event, the Schools Energy Saving Seminar, is November 14 at 9:30 a.m. at Southern Westchester BOCES in Rye Brook.

The free seminar is part of CEAC’s multifaceted effort to spur clean energy adoption across all sectors of Westchester County. It specifically targets school administrators and facilities leaders, offering vital information on measures that can lead to significant energy cost savings and enhanced sustainability.

CEAC’s speakers will provide critical insights into several key areas:

  • Energy Cost Saving Measures and Incentives: Attendees will learn about new funding opportunities and rebates available from providers like Con Edison, NYSERDA, and the NY Power Authority to reduce operational costs.
  • Real-World Success Stories: The seminar will feature practical examples of successful clean energy investments made by other districts.
  • Resilience Methods: Experts will discuss strategies for making schools more resilient and safer from extreme weather events, an increasingly important concern in the region.
  • Federal Legislative Impacts: A portion of the seminar will focus on the timeline and impacts of federal legislation on solar power, energy efficiency projects, and electric vehicle adoption within school districts.

To register for the free seminar, log on to the event’s registration page.

“Clean energy investments do more than just reduce operating costs; they also set a powerful example of proactive sustainability for our students,” BCW Executive Vice President and COO John Ravitz. “Together, we can make Westchester’s schools smarter, stronger, and more resilient.”

A major takeaway for administrators will be the urgency surrounding upcoming federal policy changes. The seminar will emphasize how districts can still secure cost reductions through solar if they act before the federal changes take effect.

Established by the BCW in 2024 to address the county’s evolving energy landscape, CEAC is composed of over 115 members spanning clean energy, real estate, education, and government. CEAC’s mission is to accelerate clean energy adoption, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability and resiliency throughout the region.
