BCW WIN Match Brings Startup ZeroWheel to Manhattanville University

A Westchester startup is putting cutting-edge fitness technology into the hands of student-athletes at Manhattanville University, thanks to a strategic match by the BCW’s Westchester Innovation Network (WIN).

WIN connected ZeroWheel, a high-tech core-training device developed by a team of entrepreneurs headquartered in Armonk, with Manhattanville’s athletic department. The collaboration gave the university’s athletes access to a product used by professional sports teams, military installations, physical therapy centers, and health clubs.

ZeroWheel was created to make core training more accessible, adaptable, and engaging for users of all abilities. The U.S.-manufactured device uses a motor, sensors, and multiple training modes to provide customizable assistance or resistance, supporting everyone from beginners and rehab patients to elite athletes.

At Manhattanville, the pilot is led by Nathaniel Estes, head strength and conditioning coach for the athletic department. Estes has been using ZeroWheel in his own workouts and is beginning to introduce it to student-athletes, with broader adoption expected as students return for the fall semester.

“We’ve had a great experience testing the ZeroWheel in our sports performance weight room. Even with much of our campus community away for the summer, the athletes and staff who have had the opportunity to test it have been impressed by how smooth and intuitive the device is. What excites me most about ZeroWheel is its versatility. Regardless of an athlete’s ability level, there is an opportunity to use the device effectively. The four modes will allow us to progress athletes who may need additional assistance while also challenging our more advanced athletes. Overall, it has been a great pilot experience working with Neil and David, and I’m looking forward to expanding our use of the ZeroWheel with our student-athletes as we enter the fall semester.” Estes said of the pilot.

Through WIN, ZeroWheel gathered input from coaches and athletes while strengthening its ties to local institutions. Collecting valuable feedback from end users is one of the WIN program’s primary benefits.
