TMB Appoints Cretara to Learning & Development Business Partner

Expanding its human resources bandwidth, Tompkins Mahopac Bank has named Cynthia Cretara to learning and development business partner for Tompkins in the Hudson Valley region. The Dutchess County resident will report directly to Laura Geary, organizational development manager at Tompkins Mahopac Bank, and be based in the bank’s Brewster, NY headquarters.

Cretara joined Tompkins in 2002, and has held various retail positions at its local branches, as well as Tompkins Trust Company, before working at an upstate insurance company. She found her way back to Tompkins Mahopac Bank in 2008, working in the bank’s Pleasantville, NY location for a year before accepting a role in the human resources department.

“Cynthia is a phenomenal example of the kind of career development and advancement initiatives she’ll foster in her new role,” said Geary. “In addition to obtaining her degree in HR while working for the bank, she has provided top notch customer service to our employees and made significant contributions to several project teams and committees. This position will allow Cynthia to transition her wide skillset and 17 years of industry experience to design, deliver and coordinate training initiatives company-wide.”

An active community member, Cretara has served as co-chair of Tompkins’ fundraising team for Support Connection and has volunteered at a local food pantry, as well as with Astor Services for Children & Families, the Alzheimer’s Association, Relay for Life and the American Heart Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in human resources management, from Post University. Cretara resides in Hopewell Junction, NY with her husband, Anthony, and two children, Chris and Siera.
