The Chazen Companies Awards & Recognition July 2, 2018 David W. MacDougall, CWB® Wins Award

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (July 2, 2018) – During the New York Chapter of The Wildlife Society’s annual meeting, David W. MacDougall, CWB®, Senior Natural Resources Scientist, The Chazen Companies, received the Outstanding Professional award.

MacDougall is a Certified Wildlife Biologist and is experienced in threatened and endangered plant and animal surveys, habitat assessments, wetland delineations and permitting. He has conducted numerous ecological surveys to identify resident and migratory wildlife species, including fish surveys. MacDougall’s experience also includes bog turtle and Blanding turtle habitat assessments.

“Dave is a great example of an outstanding professional and deserves the honor of receiving this award,” said Peter Iacono, Biologist, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. “He is very involved in conservation and advancing the knowledge of professionals in the field.”

MacDougall has organized, instructed for and guest lectured for numerous habitat assessment and wetlands courses, including a class offered by the New York Chapter of The Wildlife Society that raised scholarship funds. MacDougall’s thesis research on bog turtles has been incorporated into the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service habitat assessment protocols and he is part of the team working on a combined habitat assessment datasheet for the northeast.

“Dave has been a tremendous asset to Chazen since he started working here a year ago,” said Barbara Beall, Chazen’s Director of Natural Resource Services. “He is a recognized expert in bog turtles, along with other endangered species, and is often called upon to provide guidance to clients on development in and around endangered species habitat.”
