Stacey Tompkins Receives 2018 Women in Leadership Award
Each year, The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) recognizes a select group of professionals, or “Trailblazers,” that have stood out to their peers for their hard work and achievement in the business and nonprofit community. President and Owner of Tompkins Excavating, Stacey Tompkins, was a recipient of this year’s Women in Leadership Award
This particular Trailblazers award is given to women who have reached great heights professionally, and enacted significant change through their volunteer work and interaction with the community, while balancing life and family. An awards ceremony and networking event, held at Villa Barone Hilltop Manor in Mahopac, celebrated these Putnam County business leaders, who were decided to be the cream of this year’s crop for continuously promoting positive change through their action and effort. Tompkins, who joined the company in 1991 and was named President and Owner in 2013, has always done just that.
“The Trailblazers are the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce’s way of celebrating, showcasing, and highlighting Putnam County businesses and its leaders,” said Jennifer Maher of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce. “Time and time again, Stacey Tompkins has displayed tremendous leadership qualities and a true commitment to the local business community. We congratulate her on her many great achievements.”
Under Stacey’s leadership, Tompkins Excavating has grown from a lawn mowing service provider to a woman-owned and family-operated full-service commercial and residential excavation and landscape construction company. Outside of her professional achievements, she has volunteered for organizations like Community Cares of Mahopac, Support Connection, Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County, Armonk Outdoor Art Show, and Project Yellow Light. She also supports the Putnam Valley Education Foundation, served on the Executive Committee, and is the former PTA Co-President. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.
This is not the first time Tompkins has been acknowledged for her commitment to the local business community. She was honored by the PCCC once before, as the recipient of the 2013 Mature Trailblazer Success Award, given to business owners operating for a minimum of 15 years who had demonstrated initiative, success and creativity with an ongoing and significant impact on the region. She also received a Business of the Year from the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce (2017), 914 Inc. magazine’s Women in Business Award (2016), a Family-Owned Business Award from Westfair Communications (2016), a Cornerstone Award from Habitat for Humanity (2015)
“I give special thanks not only to the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce for selecting me, but to my family and dedicated employees for their invaluable hard work and support to get us here,” Tompkins said.
