POP Tennis Continues to Inspire Growth and Connection at Andrus

Three years after opening its POP Tennis courts, Andrus welcomed back Mitch Kutner, President of the International POP Tennis Association, and Wally Green – professional athlete, motivational speaker, digital creator, and co-founder of SPiN New York.

Green, who overcame a challenging childhood, has built his career on sharing a message of resilience. “We are more than our experiences,” he said. “I chose to see a brighter future and not let adversity hold me back. Now I love giving back, especially to those who may share a difficult beginning.”
POP Tennis, played with a shorter racquet, lower-density ball, and modified net, offers children quick successes that build confidence and encourage them to try new activities. At Andrus, sports are more than recreation – they teach teamwork, accountability, and dedication. The inclusive nature of POP Tennis breaks down barriers, transcends cultural differences, and creates a sense of belonging.

Kutner highlighted the sport’s accessibility and community spirit: “POP Tennis and other paddle sports are the great equalizer. Anyone can pick up a racquet and play. The best part is the social connection – you can meet strangers, form a team, and walk away with new friendships built through the power of play.”

The addition of POP Tennis at Andrus was made possible through strong partnerships in the paddle and racquet sports community, whose commitment to youth engagement mirrors the Andrus mission. The courts not only expand physical education opportunities but also provide therapeutic benefits that extend far beyond the game.
Andrus expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing commitment of Kutner and Green and looks forward to welcoming them back again next year. With initiatives like POP Tennis, Andrus continues its century-long tradition of fostering inclusion, building skills, and opening doors to a brighter future.
