NorthMarq Capital Donates $4,000 to Wartburg

NorthMarq Capital has donated $4,000 to Wartburg to support wellness programs in Friedrich’s affordable senior independent living facility. This grant was nominated by Robert Ranieri, managing director at NorthMarq’s Westchester office and Wartburg board member.

As part of a new initiative for 2018, NorthMarq created a fund to support organizations that focus on improving access to affordable housing or eradicating homelessness in the markets it serves for commercial real estate financing. This initiative is in alignment with NorthMarq owner, the Pohlad Companies’ expanded emphasis into these two focus areas.

Friedrich’s opened on Wartburg’s 34-acre campus in 2013, offering beautiful studio and one bedroom handicap-accessible apartments for the 62+ community of active seniors. Residents have access to amenities such as a sunlit multipurpose community room, a state-of-the-art fitness room, an expansive library, laundry on each floor and free assigned parking. The first ever Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certified building in Mount Vernon boasts bamboo floors and individually thermostatic heating and air-conditioned units. Over 60 percent of the original tenants continue to enjoy a full calendar of activities and support services provided. Rents range from $752 – $1,085 depending on income and unit availability.

“We are honored to receive this donation from NorthMarq Capital. It will help us to continue our work on wellness, aging in place and lifelong learning,” says Dr. David Gentner, Wartburg’s President and CEO. NorthMarq’s grant will support wellness programs that include exercise classes, line dancing and other creative programs aimed at promoting increased emotional health, social engagement and lifelong learning for seniors.

“I am proud that NorthMarq recognizes the importance of supporting non-profits that help support affordable housing and I am personally pleased that Wartburg was a well-deserved recipient of these funds that will help the residents of Friedrichs,” said Wartburg Board member, Robert Ranieri, and facilitator of the grant.

NorthMarq has since awarded $50,000 to non-profit organizations nominated by employees in 10 of its markets.
