HHREC and Iona College William H. Donat Shoah Commemoration
Dr. Mehnaz Afridi will speak on the Jewish and Muslim Responses: Religious Cooperation and Crisis from the Time of the Holocaust to the Present. Dr. Afridi is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Director of Holocaust, Genocide, and Interfaith Education at Manhattan College. She is committed to interfaith work, contemporary Islam, and Holocaust education.
She will discuss the relationship between Jews and Muslims during and after the Holocaust as well as the issue of antisemitism and anti-Muslim sentiment in Europe and America today. She is working on her forthcoming book, Shoah through Muslim Eyes (Academic Studies Press, 2016).
This event will take place April 14, 7:30 PM at Iona College, Spellman Hall, 715 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
