During a Pandemic…There Is Still Hope
LGI Forensic Engineering, P.C., (LGI) located in North White Plains, would like to inform you about a local business success story during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the quarantine and government restrictions made life difficult for all business in New York, LGI was able to persevere through these difficult times without laying-off any employees. In fact, we were able to obtain some talented professionals during the pandemic because other companies let them go to cope with the financial pressures of COVID-19.
We saw this as an opportunity to grow our business and increase our talent base, which will serve LGI well going forward. We hired eight (8) additional people to our full-time staff since February, doubling our head count in just eight (8) months. The new employees are all productive and will contribute to our present and future success.
LGI also owns an accredited Forensic Laboratory and we had to get creative to keep this business viable. At the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, all lab exams were either cancelled or put on hold, which was obviously devastating to our business. After the COVID-19 restrictions were eased, many insurance adjusters, attorneys and expert investigators still had reservations about attending joint inspections in-person at our lab. We made the proactive decision to add remote pan/tilt/zoom cameras, so we could conduct “virtual inspections”. Clients can now attend lab exams through a GoToMeeting link and witness all exam activities. Remote viewers can also interact with the individuals conducting the exam through speakers and microphones in the lab.
Our clients were still able to participate in the lab inspections, but would remain safe, healthy, and socially distanced at their home or office. LGI was one of the first forensic lab to add remote cameras and “virtual” exams, which allowed us to maintain business operations and created a competitive advantage in the industry.
LGI was able to achieve these accomplishments during a global pandemic because we maintained our hope and vision for the future of our company. The strategic moves we made, were things we always wanted to do, but the pandemic forced us to pivot our thinking and provided us with unexpected opportunities. There is still hope amid all the COVID gloom we have been experiencing in 2020.
