Hundreds Welcome New Pace President

Congratulations to Marvin Krislov who was inaugurated this week as Pace University’s eighth president. Despite heavy rains, about 800 people turned out at the Pleasantville campus on Sunday to celebrate the inauguration. Speakers at the ceremony, which was held in the Goldstein Fitness Center, included State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, a Pace alumni, and Keynote Speaker Johnnetta Cole, the first African-American, female president of Spellman College. On Saturday evening, a VIP reception welcoming the new president was held at the Glen Arbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills. Among the dignitaries attending the reception was BCW President and CEO Marsha Gordon who is also a Pace graduate.

In his inaugural address, President Krislov talked about the University’s founding in 1906 as a small business school and how it has evolved into a well-respected university with some of the top programs in health, business, cybersecurity and other areas of study. Elaborating on the school’s motto of Opportunitas, Krislov said he was very proud of Pace’s students, many of whom were the first to attend college in their families. He spoke about the school’s success in helping these students to reach top positions in their chosen fields. Krislov is the former president of Oberlin College.

The ceremony was attended by faculty, students, alumni, dignitaries and delegates representing more than 50 colleges and universities from across the nation. The Inauguration capped off a week-long schedule of activities at the college’s Pleasantville and New York City campuses, as well as at Pace’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law in White Plains.
