Deadline for NYS Required Sexual Harassment Training Extended

The Business Council of Westchester and a statewide coalition organized by the Business Council of New York State have been successful in getting the NYS Department of Labor to extend the deadline for employee sexual harassment training now required for all businesses.

One of the areas that the BCW argued against was that the initial policy mandated that all businesses complete their new sexual harassment employee training by January 1, 2019.  As a result of the lobbying effort that date has been moved to October 1, 2019.

“I am very pleased to announce that through our efforts we were able to extend this deadline,’’ said John Ravitz, Vice President and COO of the Business Council of Westchester. “This new time frame, we hope will give businesses more time to deliver the training in a responsible manner.”

Business seeking more information on the training and requirements can find it on the Combating Sexual Harassment in the Workplace website here.
