BCW Joins Coalition to Strengthen Technical Education

Citing a shortage of skilled workers for technical jobs, a coalition of businesses and educational institutions including the BCW has written to Congress to ask that it support a bill that would invest in high quality career and technical education programs.
“We are urging our lawmakers to reauthorize the Perkins bill to help more Americans enter the workforce with the skills they need to compete for high-skilled, in-demand jobs,’’ said John Ravitz, Executive Vice President and COO of the Business Council of Westchester. “Career and technical education programs give students the necessary academic and technical skills needed to close our nation’s persistent skills gap.’’
The BCW has been a long time member and leader in the coalition. More than 90 of its members, including corporations, educational and business organizations signed the letter to Senate and House members on Congressional Career and Technical Education Caucus.
