BCW Announces MGM Resorts International’s Chairman and CEO Jim Murren as Keynote Speaker for Annual Dinner

RYE BROOK, N.Y. (July 9, 2019) The Business Council of Westchester (BCW), in keeping with its tradition of featuring the most prominent and timely speakers, is proud to announce an exclusive opportunity to hear directly from MGM Resorts International’s Chairman and CEO Jim Murren as the keynote speaker at the BCW Annual Dinner on October 10, 2019, at the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook, N.Y.

MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) (“MGM Resorts” or the “Company”) is undoubtably one of the most recognizable brands in the gaming and hospitality industry, with 30 unique hotels and casinos worldwide, employing 82,000 people, and consistently winning accolades as a leader in corporate social responsibility.  Earlier this year, seeing great potential in the City of Yonkers, MGM Resorts acquired Empire City Casino – an $850 million investment.

“Jim Murren is a visionary whose leadership has propelled MGM Resorts International into a position of unprecedented dominance in the entertainment, resorts and gaming industry,” said Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the BCW. “Westchester County is extremely fortunate to welcome MGM Resorts. This is the kind of economic development that will truly move the needle in terms of our ‘live, work, play’ approach, and we are so excited to work together as partners for the future.”

The BCW’s Annual Dinner each year features renowned speakers from across a broad spectrum of business, finance, government, media and other important aspects of American life. Last year’s speaker was Indra K. Nooyi, former Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo. Other prominent speakers have included Hillary Rodham Clinton and Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

“I want to thank the BCW for inviting me to participate in their annual dinner. I’m honored to join the outstanding list of past speakers,” said Murren. “We are grateful for the welcome we have received from the business community in Westchester and look forward to our continued partnership as we further solidify our presence in the high-density New York City region.”

MGM Resorts acquired Empire City Casino in Yonkers in January 2019. The company takes pride in its commitment to the communities in which it operates and welcomes the opportunity to enhance Empire City’s already strong commitment to Westchester. By obtaining a full commercial gaming license, Empire City Casino would create thousands of new jobs and opportunities for local vendors, as well as generate even more funding for education than the casino already does under its current video lottery terminal status.

In 2018, MGM Resorts was named among FORTUNE® Magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies® for the third consecutive year. Additionally, the company is dedicated to investing in their employees and offers a Management Associate Program (MAP), which is an extensive development program for recent college graduates seeking leadership growth, as well as a robust tuition assistance program for its 82,000 employees.

This year’s BCW Annual Dinner will again be held at the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook. Cocktail reception will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by the program from 7-9 p.m. For information on sponsorships, contact Charlene Nixon, Senior Director of Membership, at Cnixon@thebcw.org.
