Westchester Hotel Association Announces New Leadership

From left, standing, Kevin Johnson, Antonio Santoiemma and Sean Meade. Seated, Dena McConnell.

Sean Meade, General Manager, Cambria Suites in White Plains, has been elected President of the Westchester Hotel Association (WHA). He succeeds Dan Conte, former General Manager of the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, who is the longest serving president of the WHA having served since 2010.

“It is an honor to be elected President of the Westchester Hotel Association and we look forward to continued success in 2018. Our former President, Dan Conte, was extremely successful in developing the WHA over the last decade. The Association would like to thank Dan for his hard work and dedication to the organization,” said Meade. “Having a single association to represent over 40 hotels, motels, and inns in the county helps us achieve our goal of community involvement and increased education about the tourism industry.”

John Ravitz, Vice President and COO of the Business Council of Westchester, welcomed Meade and said as a member of the BCW’s LEAP (Legislative Enhanced Advocacy Program), the BCW has continued to actively advocate in Albany for the elimination of the Hotel Occupancy Tax on behalf of member hotels.

Meade, who is responsible for managing the day-to-day hotel operations of the 130-room suite, began his career in the hospitality industry in 1999 with Residence Inn by Marriott in Plainview, NY. He has held GM positions with Courtyard by Marriott Stamford and Residence Inn by Marriott White Plains. He opened the first SpringHill Suites by Marriott branded hotel in New York City in 2013. In 2015, he joined Meyer Jabara Hotels as the General Manager of the Cambria Hotel and Suites.

Also offers elected included:

  • Vice President – Kevin Johnson, General Manager, Doubletree by Hilton
  • Secretary – Dena McConnell, Director of Revenue Services of Hilton Westchester
  • Treasurer – Antonio Santoiemma, General Manager, Courtyard Marriott Rye.
