New York Blood Center Celebrates 60th Anniversary at New Facility in Rye

New York Blood Center Enterprises facility at 601 Midland Ave, Rye

On Tuesday, the New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe) celebrated its 60th anniversary by welcoming more than 130 strategic partners, elected officials, and community leaders to its new campus in Rye. Among those attending the special event was BCW President & CEO Marsha Gordon.

This 187,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility brings together NYBCe’s tri-state operations on a 15-acre campus—uniting blood collection, processing, distribution, specialty labs, research, and cell therapy manufacturing under one roof.

Serving over 75 million people and 400+ hospitals across 17+ states, NYBCe has long been recognized as one of the nation’s—and the world’s—most innovative and forward-thinking comprehensive blood centers.

The new Rye campus is a bold step forward, reflecting NYBCe’s commitment to lifesaving care, scientific excellence, and continued leadership in transfusion medicine, hematology research, and cellular therapies.

New York Blood Center Enterprises is one of the largest community-based, non-profit blood collection and distribution organizations in the United States. It proudly serves as a vital community lifeline dedicated to serving patients and advancing global public health.

In 2023, Westchester County’s Local Development Corporation voted approval on tax-exempt bond financing for the redevelopment of the former Avon headquarters in Rye into the New York Blood Center. A formal public grand opening celebration of the Rye Campus and Donor Center is planned for this summer.
