Westchester Innovation Network Member ShelterZoom Opens European Office

Chao Cheng-Shorland, CEO and Co-Founder of ShelterZoom

ShelterZoom, a leading smart-document provider and a founding member of the BCW’s Westchester Innovation Network (WIN), has opened its first European branch in Lisbon, Portugal.

The expansion into Portugal reflects the growing popularity of ShelterZoom in the European market, and the need to establish a tech hub in the region for research, development, and enhanced customer support.  ShelterZoom’s products, including Document GPS and DocuWalk, leverage blockchain to provide organizations and individuals an unprecedented ability to monitor and control access of sensitive documents and digital material through tokenization.

Earlier this year, the BCW matched ShelterZoom with the Fullerton Beck law firm in White Plains and Dorf & Nelson in Rye to conduct ShelterZoom’s first legal-sector test of its secure-document technology. The pairing is part of WIN’s effort to drive economic development, innovation, and growth within Westchester County.

“ShelterZoom’s products are being quickly embraced by companies around the world that see the value in document security. As we began formulating the WIN program, we were eager to invite ShelterZoom to Westchester to share their cutting-edge technology with local law firms,” said Dr. Marsha Gordon, the BCW’s president and CEO.

ShelterZoom’s work with the two Westchester law firms included the streamlining of document sharing during the discovery process.

Dubbed Europe’s Silicon Valley, Lisbon has become a key player in the global tech industry.

“We are developing a key Web3 application piece for the next generation of the Internet and Lisbon is the perfect location for ShelterZoom’s expansion, as it sits within four hours from every European capital, which will enable us easier access to our growing list of European clients,” says Chao Cheng-Shorland, CEO and Co-Founder of ShelterZoom.

The timing of the opening of the Lisbon office coincides with one of the tech world’s premiere events, Web Summit 2022, which will be held in the city. Cheng-Shorland will be in Lisbon as a keynote speaker at this year’s event, where she will discuss cybersecurity, environmental sustainability, and data ownership through tokenization.
