FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
4th ANNUAL DINNER DANCE BENEFIT GALA
Thursday, September 19, 2019, the Youth Community Outreach Program (Y-COP) will host its 4th Annual Dinner Dance Gala at the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, New York, to benefit its Summer Day Camp, After School, Out of School, Youth Development Basketball, Girl Empowerment Group, and Counselors-in-Training programs.
Y-COP provides year-round, positive childcare programs, for youth ages five to 15, led by highly qualified, caring individuals in a safe and nurturing environment, at an affordable rate for working parents in Mount Vernon and surrounding communities. Each program uses a three-prong approach that includes academics, recreation, and social skill development – a method that is a rare find in childcare programs in the surrounding area.
Y-COP’s Board, staff, and volunteers strongly believes that no person’s circumstance should define their worth. Therefore, Y-COP does not charge parent’s the actual costs of its programs. Program costs are offset by regular fundraisers including grants, donations from individuals, collaborating with other programs, support from local businesses, and more. The Dinner Dance is Y-COP’s largest annual fundraiser and makes it possible to provide partial scholarships for low-income families. It is also an opportunity to recognize those who have supported Y-COP in its effort to increase program offerings to better meet the needs of the community. This year’s honorees include Roslyn Edwards, Jordan Fields, Luther Garrison, Dr. Alfonzo Owens & Mrs. Kim Owens, Marilena Sophia and the United Methodist Women of Mount Vernon.
Mr. George Latimer, Westchester County Executive will provide the opening remarks and Mr. Uri Clinton, President/COO of MGM/Empire Casino will be the Special Guest Speaker. The evening will be hosted by Mount Vernon’s own TV & radio star James “TALENT” Harris and Kesha Monique Chisholm of Bronxville, NY.
Tickets are $125 per person and include a jazz cocktail hour, choice of three entrees, raffle drawing, silent auction, and live entertainment. For tickets, journal ad sales, or information on how to donate or become a sponsor, please contact Henry Wilson or Donna Brown, Event Co-Chair at 914.308.6261.
The Youth Community Outreach Program (Y-COP) operates in Mount Vernon, New York and is a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit child care and youth organization. All donations are tax deductible.
