Yonkers and BCW Announce New Digital Events Platform with Burbio.com

Yonkers residents and visitors looking for a place to go to get information on happenings in the city need look no further than its new digital events platform in partnership with Burbio.com. The BCW and Mayor Mike Spano made the exciting announcement on Wednesday at the Hudson River Museum, all part of the city’s economic revitalization plan.

Burbio is a free, online service and smart phone application that streams local non-profit and school calendar content to users.  Users can create a personal event feed by following Yonkers groups of interest, add events to their digital calendar and be notified when events change.

“There is no question that we live in digital world and expect to manage our daily activities at our finger tips,” said Mayor Spano. “Our residents and visitors to Yonkers, especially millennials, look to their digital devices to access their world in real time. Burbio is a perfect complement to the diversified platforms we use to inform our city, making it easier and more fun to live, work and play.”

“This initiative is an outgrowth of the BCW urban centers strategy which focuses on live-work-play,” said Marsha Gordon, President/CEO, the Business Council of Westchester. “With thousands of multi residential units coming on the market in Yonkers we wanted to ensure that all residents are aware of the multitude of ways that they can “play” in this great city. We are so pleased to bring Burbio’s high technology platform to provide the most up to date information and to partner with them and Yonkers.”

Burbio.com co-founder Julie Roche said, “Whether it’s parents looking to keep track of important school dates, millennials looking for something to do nearby, or long-time residents who just want to follow their favorite community group, Burbio is designed for civic engagement for everyone.”
