Westchester Community College will work with its training partner Ladders to Value WIO/1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds to recruit and train two cohorts of 20 in an 11-week book camp for healthcare occupations. Graduates will have a four-week externship/job shadowing experience at a Montefiore hospital or health-care facility and an opportunity to interview with employer partners Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, Montefiore Medical Center, and Wartburg Senior Living and Nursing Home.

Westhab will offer 90 candidates the opportunity to prepare for construction careers through a multi-phase approach and earn industry-recognized certifications and advanced training once employed. Participants will interview with Westhab’s employer partners L+M Development Partners and Queen City Recycling Center & FDL Management, Corp.

“Westchester residents are ready to get back to work, and employers are ready to hire them. These grants support a better economic and talent development system for job-seekers and employers alike,” says Laura Rossi, executive director of Westchester Community Foundation.

The Westchester Workforce Funders Collaborative is a pooled fund at the Foundation that works to create a more effective workforce development system in Westchester and Putnam Counties. Partners include: CIT Group, JPMorgan Chase & Co., MVP Health Care, TD Charitable Foundation, The Patrina Foundation, and Westchester Community Foundation.
