Volunteer New York! Welcomes New Board Members in 2020-2021

Volunteer New York! announced the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors for 2020-2021:

  • Kathy D’Agostino, Assoc. Cert. Coach, ICF; • Tara C. Fappiano, Attorney at Law and a graduate of Leadership Westchester; • Ed Forbes, senior editor for the USA TODAY Network Atlantic Group, a publisher of lohud, The Journal News, NorthJersey.com and The Record—news organizations covering greater New York; • Nancy Street, CEO of With You Design LLC; • Dan Zelem, most recently with Johnson & Johnson as Global Chief Technology Officer.

“These accomplished new members of the Volunteer New York!’s leadership team join us at a time of renewed growth and potential,” says Jeanette Gisbert, executive director of Volunteer New York! “Even though 2020 was a challenging year, Volunteer New York! marked its greatest impact ever. We’re thrilled to report that we inspired over 35,000 volunteers and provided a value back to our community of $11.7 million on a budget of only $1.5 million.”

The success of Volunteer New York! can be attributed to the quality of its services and nimbleness to respond to pressing community needs, but at the heart of it is the exceptional board of directors, professional staff and leadership who are dedicated to building connected and resilient communities through volunteerism. Every single member of the team embodies the three core beliefs that guide their work:

In 2020, Volunteer New York! earned status as a 2020 Top-Rated Nonprofit by greatnonprofits.org for its 9th consecutive year, a distinction awarded based on reviews made by local community members. The organization also received a 2020 Guidestar Gold Seal of Transparency.
