Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Community Minute Challenge Awards $6,000

One minute can make all the difference to three of the region’s non-profits, thanks to Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Community Minute Challenge.

Through the three-round, social media contest, members of the public are invited to choose their favorite one-minute video by a select group of Hudson Valley non-profits, as posted on Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page. The organization that earns the most votes in each round of the contest’s two-week run will win $2,000.

For each phase of the Community Minute Challenge, six named local non-profits will vie for votes by explaining how they will use the contest’s winnings in their one-minute video, in the hopes that they’ll come away with the $2,000 prize. By the end of the third round, the three winners will have won a collective $6,000.

“Our Community Minute Challenge has been a great success in the other markets of our affiliate banks,” said Jerry Klein, president and CEO. “We are excited to bring the contest to the Hudson Valley to the benefit of non-profits in this active and vital region.”

Voting for the challenge’s first round will begin May 5 and run through May 19. Competing non-profits in this phase include the LaGrange Association Library, Sparrow’s Nest, Putnam ARC (PARC), Habitat for Humanity Putnam County, YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester, and LatinoU. During the voting period, participants are invited to ‘like’ Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page, (www.facebook.com/tompkinsmahopacbank), click on the Community Minute Challenge app and elect their non-profit of choice. People can vote once every day for each round.

Rounds two and three are planned for August and October 2016. Details on those phases, including the participating non-profits, will be posted on Tompkins Mahopac Bank’s Facebook page.
