Sleepy Hollow LDC Retains Nicholas & Lence Communications

In advance of next year’s celebration marking the 200th Anniversary of the writing of Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the Sleepy Hollow Local Development Corporation (SHLDC) today announced it has retained Nicholas & Lence Communications (NLC), a strategic communications, public relations and government affairs firm, to assist the organization with communications during a critical period of economic growth for the Village, including the nearly $1 billion Edge-on-Hudson – a 67-acre, mixed-use, waterfront development project currently underway along the Hudson River on the site of the former General Motors assembly plant (known as the West Parcel) – and proposed development of the 29-acre adjacent property (known as the East Parcel) for community and local government use.

Established by the Village of Sleepy Hollow Board of Trustees in 2014, the SHLDC promotes and supports employment opportunities and economic development in the historic Village of Sleepy Hollow and surrounding communities through the use of selective financing, real estate development, public works, and related business partnerships.

“After over two decades since the closure of the GM plant, Sleepy Hollow now faces a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dramatically expand the local economy and improve the quality of life for the benefit of all Village residents,” said Village of Sleepy Hollow Mayor Ken Wray. “In addition to the technical, logistical and structural challenges moving forward in developing the East Parcel, the most critical task is ensuring we offer a clear line of communications between the LDC and residents, government leaders and other critical audiences. Keeping them informed is essential, and so we brought in Nicholas & Lence Communications, a professional team with economic development experience who understand the importance of providing timely information.”

“As a local resident, I am proud to be part of this incredible effort being undertaken by the Mayor and the Sleepy Hollow LDC to transform the Village in a positive and sustainable way that includes all local residents in the process,” stated George Lence, President of Nicholas & Lence Communications. “We have all been waiting a long time for these development projects to advance, and so I look forward to helping the LDC engage the public in this exciting process.”

Nicholas & Lence Communications (NLC) is a New York City-based strategic communications, publications and government affairs firm, with strong media, business, civic and government relationships throughout the City and State as well as across the country. NLC specializes in media relations, community affairs, crisis management, destination marketing and corporate positioning.
