Center is Lightbridge Academy’s First in Westchester County
Executives of Robert Martin Company today joined with Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams and officials of Lightbridge Academy and the Child Care Council of Westchester for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the Grand Opening of Lightbridge Academy’s new Child Care Center at The Elm, a new luxury rental mixed-use building located just off the Saw Mill Parkway in Elmsford.
The 10,000-square-foot center provides early education and child care to children ages six weeks through kindergarten, as well as special programming for children up to 10 years old during school holidays, breaks and summer camp. Lightbridge Academy currently has over 100 child care centers either open, under construction or in development throughout the Northeast. The Elmsford location is its first childcare center in Westchester County.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Administrator and I, we are honored to be at today’s Grand Opening for Lightbridge Academy located at The Elm. It was only a few months ago we were here for the groundbreaking ceremony and we were eagerly awaiting for this day to come so there will be more access to much-needed child care in Elmsford and in the area,” said Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams. “We once again thank Lightbridge Academy for choosing Elmsford to open their child care here and thank Robert Martin Company for building and operating The Elm where Lightbridge Academy is located. We wish Lightbridge Academy many successful years in business,” he added.
“We are delighted to celebrate the grand opening of Lightbridge Academy’s first Westchester child care center. This new center will provide much-needed child care for area residents as well as those living in The Elm apartments,” said Robert Martin Company CEO Tim Jones.
Greg Berger, President of Robert Martin Company, said Lightbridge Academy is filling a rising demand in Westchester for child care services. “Lightbridge Academy is a perfect fit for The Elm with its convenient location just off the Saw Mill River Parkway. It is also a great amenity for the many residents living at The Elm,” Berger said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held November 19.
“It is truly wonderful to be part of a company that has a 23-year history of providing the very best in early education to its students,” said Lightbridge Academy co-owners Ram and JoAnne Jagadeesan. “While the name may be new to Westchester County, the Circle of Care philosophy at the heart of this amazing company remains the same – viewing the needs of its children, parents, staff, owners and community as interconnected and equally important” said Ram. “As parents of 3 children who attended a Lightbridge Academy, we cannot wait to give Westchester families the same level of love and care our children received” said JoAnne.
“We congratulate the Robert Martin Company on incorporating a child care program into its new rental building, The Elm and welcome Lightbridge Academy to Westchester. Westchester can enhance its appeal to families with young children by offering expanded child care options. We hope this model inspires other developers to consider bringing new or existing child care businesses into their spaces and we’re eager to support such efforts,” said Kathleen Halas, Executive Director of Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc.
“The Business Council of Westchester is so pleased to celebrate the opening of Lightbridge Academy. Our organization has had a long-time commitment to creating high quality child care for Westchester employees. This makes this opening even more special as we know Lightbridge offers an outstanding opportunity for children and their working parents,” said Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the BCW.
With the grand opening of Lightbridge Academy, The Elm is now fully leased. Owned and managed by Robert Martin Company, The Elm features 100 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments.
