WIN Participant ShelterZoom Announces Deal with UN

BCW Westchester Innovation Network (WIN) participant ShelterZoom recently announced a partnership with the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) to develop a customized secure-document tracking solution for the global organization.
ShelterZoom’s groundbreaking Document GPS technology will become part of the UN’s major digital upgrade, bringing tokenization technology to one of the largest and most complex organizations in the world. Tokenization is a data security and payment processing method that protects sensitive data by replacing it with a non-sensitive substitute called a token.
The UN deal is the latest first for ShelterZoom, which in 2022 conducted the first legal-sector tests of Document GPS with two BCW members — Fullerton Beck in White Plains and Dorf & Nelson in Rye. The pairing with two local law firms was part of the BCW WIN’s effort to drive economic development, innovation, and growth by bringing cutting-edge inventions to Westchester County and pairing them with local companies.
This is the first time the UN has brought a technology partner onboard at such a large scale, showcasing how the versatility of Document GPS can be rolled out at large scale yet still be implemented in a user-friendly, granular level.
“The need for robust cybersecurity and data protection has never been greater,” said Sameer Chauhan, Director of UNICC. “By working with ShelterZoom, we have developed a cutting-edge tool tailored to the needs of the UN family. Our unwavering commitment to providing best-in-class solutions ensures we continue to support the digital transformation and modernization of the UN system and other international organizations.”
2024 was a banner year for ShelterZoom. Its Spare Tire solution for electronic-health-record-access failures has attracted the interest of top names in the healthcare sector. The solution addresses the growing problem of debilitating healthcare cyberattacks.
At the same time, Document GPS expanded its reach into dozens of countries and industry sectors, evolving into a critical national infrastructure for cybersecurity, data protection, and tracking.
“We are thrilled to witness ShelterZoom’s explosive growth and groundbreaking achievements, including their partnership with the United Nations International Computing Centre,” said Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester. “It is a point of pride for the BCW to have brought ShelterZoom to Westchester County, where our members had the opportunity to experience the transformative potential of their innovative document-security technology. This milestone underscores the value of our commitment to fostering innovation and attracting cutting-edge companies to our region. The BCW will continue to champion the development of new technologies that empower our members with forward-thinking solutions that redefine how business is conducted.”
