Westchester County Legislature Approves $156.8 Million Budget for SUNY Westchester Community College

The Westchester County Board of Legislators has approved a $156.8 million budget for BCW member SUNY Westchester Community College (WCC) for the 2026–2027 academic year, reaffirming the County’s commitment to expanding access to higher education, workforce development, and economic opportunity throughout the region.

The approved budget includes $132.7 million in operating funding and $24.1 million for capital improvements. WCC’s fiscal year begins September 1, 2026, and continues through August 31, 2027.

The financial plan is supported by a combination of $26.2 million in County funding, $52.7 million in student tuition, $31 million in New York State aid, and $22.8 million from other revenue sources, including investment income. The budget also provides funding for 612 full-time employees who support the college’s academic programs and student services.

Board of Legislators Chairman Vedat Gashi emphasized the importance of the investment, noting that the budget helps keep higher education affordable while strengthening workforce development and creating long-term value for both students and taxpayers.

WCC President Dr. Belinda S. Miles said the approved budget ensures the college can continue delivering high-quality education, comprehensive student support, and workforce training that prepares students for future success while contributing to a stronger regional economy and healthier communities.

Serving Westchester County and the surrounding region, SUNY Westchester Community College offers more than 65 degree and certificate programs, along with transfer pathways, career and technical training, continuing education, and workforce development initiatives. Since its founding in 1946, the college has played a vital role in preparing students for careers, further education, and lifelong learning while helping meet the evolving needs of local employers.
