Mid-Hudson REDC Awards $15.8 Million in Grants to Westchester Applicants

A total of 26 Westchester applicants were recipients of more than $15.8 million in Empire State Development grants awarded this week by the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council.

The awards were part of the $196 million awarded to support 488 projects across New York State from state agency programs that participated in Round XI of the Regional Economic Development Council initiative. The awards complement the $81 million in rolling Empire State Development funding previously awarded to shovel-ready regional projects. This year, $525 million in resources from state agencies was made available to support community revitalization and business growth consistent with the REDC strategic plans.

“The economic toll of the pandemic has been felt in every corner of the state, which is why we must ensure that our equitable economic recovery does the same,” Governor Hochul said. “This new round of funding, rooted in a bottom-up approach that partners with local leaders and utilizes unique regional strengths, will be another important tool as we work to transform communities across New York State into places where people will want to live, work and visit for generations to come.”

Among the major awards announced for Westchester County were:

  • $2,000,000 to the Power Plant Powerhouse LLC for redevelopment of the former Glenwood Power Plant in Yonkers as a carbon neutral project
  • $1,480,428 to the City of Peekskill for construction of the Riverfront Green Connector Trail
  • $1,092,928 to the City of Peekskill for the Fleischmann Pier and Charles Point Park improvement
  • $900,000 to Mulford Corporation for greening six Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers (MHACY) projects to reduce stormwater impacts
