Yankwitt LLP Wins Appeal in Wrongful Termination Lawsuit
Yankwitt LLP’s successful motion to dismiss all claims against its clients, Westchester Reform Temple, and several current and former employees was affirmed on appeal to the New York Appellate Division, Second Department, in a case involving New York Labor Law and the First Amendment. Yankwitt LLP represented its clients in a lawsuit brought by a former employee whom the temple had terminated.
In June 2022, Yankwitt LLP moved on behalf of its clients to dismiss the complaint on statutory and constitutional grounds, and the court granted the motion to dismiss. The plaintiff appealed, and the appellate court returned a decision upholding the lower court’s dismissal.
The Yankwitt LLP team was led by partners Russell Yankwitt and Michael Reed, with Michael arguing the appeal at the Appellate Division.
