Wartburg Receives $988,000 in CARES Act Provider Relief

Wartburg receives $988,000 in CARES Act Provider Relief as part of April’s release of the first allocation of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services $100 billion in funds towards providers on the front lines of the COVID-19 response.

As part of last month’s bipartisan CARES Act legislation providing relief to healthcare providers on the frontline of the COVID-19 outbreak, Wartburg received $988,000. In allocating the funds, the Federal government is addressing both the economic harm across the entire healthcare system as well as addressing the economic impact on providers incurring additional expenses caring for COVID-19 patients.

Dr. David J. Gentner, Wartburg President & CEO, said, “Wartburg’s allocation is from the initial $50 billion Provider Relief Fund allocated for general distribution to Medicare providers impacted by COVID-19, based on Wartburgs’ 2018 net Medicare patient revenue. This funding will be used to support Wartburg’s healthcare-related expenses attributable our fight against COVID-19 and is crucial as we begin to set a course for recovery in the aftermath of the greatest health care crisis ever faced by this country.”

“Our deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who have passed from the COVID-19 virus which has disproportionately and virulently affected those in our community who are of advanced age and frailty. There has been an overwhelming community appreciation for Wartburg’s courageous care giving staff who’ve worked under unprecedented physically and emotionally challenging circumstances. Our gratitude for their passion, commitment, and continued service is everlasting.”
