Train to become a Rape Crisis Counselor with WMC’s SAAVE Program
Westchester Medical Center seeks volunteers to play a vital, supportive role in its Sexual Assault, Abuse, and Victims Empowerment (SAAVE) Program.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a year of service of monthly shifts staffing Westchester Medical Center’s 24-hour rape crisis hotline and assisting victims, as well as attending meetings and trainings throughout the year.
A 30-hour pre-service curriculum is required of all volunteers. This includes 10 hours of pre-work modules that volunteers may complete on their own.
In-person training will be held on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Cedarwood Hall on Westchester Medical Center’s Valhalla campus. Training is free and lunch and refreshments will be served.
All volunteers must complete onboarding and an eight-hour volunteer orientation program prior to volunteering at Westchester Medical Center. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older; a valid driver’s license and bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus.
