The Loss of a Legend: Eugene Warrington

On Saturday, August 26th, 2017, the world lost a legend, a truly one-of-a-kind, generous, and compassionate man: Eugene “Uncle Gene” Warrington, at the age of 95. Eugene dedicated 65+ years of his life to our family’s renowned roadside Hot Dog Stand – Walter’s. Although the namesake falls with his father, everyone who has visited the iconic Pagoda has “Uncle Gene” to thank for the Walter’s experience that he created and passed on from generation to generation. Because of Gene’s hard work, his insistence on quality, homemade products, his love for people, his generosity, and most importantly, his passion for family, Walter’s continues to flourish today.

All the traditions we carry on today are because of him, for him, and in honor of him.

Here’s to “Pop,” the Top Dog, “the best boss.” There will never be another person like him. May he rest in peace.

To honor the extraordinary life of Eugene Warrington, we are closed and in a period of mourning. We will reopen Friday, September 1st.

Warrington will be waked Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home at 767 East Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sts. John & Paul R.C. Church, 280 Weaver Street in Larchmont, followed by entombment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 North Main Street Chamberlain, SD 57325.
