TCB Makes Donations to Local Nonprofits

In its ongoing dedication to bettering the communities it serves in Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties, this Thanksgiving Tompkins Community Bank gifted a total of $7,500 to Dutchess Outreach, Feeding Westchester, and Second Chance Foods in celebration of its annual “Banksgiving” holiday donation. In past years, Tompkins’ Banksgiving has featured donations to local food insecurity nonprofits in each of the counties it serves. The bank has donated a total of $18,000 over its 2 years of supporting local nonprofits through the Banksgiving program.

“It’s a difficult time of year for many folks, and even more difficult given the ongoing aftereffects of the pandemic and the rising costs of goods,” said Dave DeMilia, president of Tompkins’ Hudson Valley market. “It’s our hope that these gifts will make a meaningful difference in all of these communities, because we’re a part of those communities, too.”

The Banksgiving donations round out a year of community-focused initiatives for Tompkins. Throughout 2022, the bank has continued to offer free, virtual seminars on topics ranging from first-time homebuying to fraud protection, as a means of cultivating financial education and independence in the Hudson Valley. The company also participated in the Relay for Life of Mahopac this summer, adding $31,000 in donations to its cumulative total of over $125,000 since Tompkins began participating in 2018. In a show of appreciation for its customers, the bank also continued hosting its series of community-beloved Food Truck Fridays, in which complimentary lunches are served to customers from local food trucks at various branch locations.

“Giving is a corporate-wide initiative,” continued DeMilia. “It’s not a requirement, it’s not a box we check. It’s part of the fabric of our mission as a community bank. Given that we live where we work, we have the unique privilege of seeing our impact in action in our own backyards—and this is what inspires us to continue evolving to meet the needs of the Hudson Valley.”
