Ridge Hill’s “Branches of Joy” Holiday Tree Contest

Ridge Hill is excited to announce Branches of Joy, a first-ever holiday tree decorating contest in which the entire community is invited to participate! This unique competition will not only be an interactive and safe outdoor activity for community groups, but it will also create a beautiful outdoor exhibit that guests can visit throughout the holiday season while supporting a much deserved cause.

Ridge Hill recognizes the struggle that too many community members are facing right now to put food on the table and has teamed up with Feeding Westchester for Branches of Joy. The contest will raise money, food donations, and awareness of food insecurity in this season of need.

Up to 50 groups will be selected to participate, and each assigned a live 6-7’ tree placed along Market Street or in Town Square to decorate. Decoration design is determined by each individual group, but all decorations should be handmade and tie back in some way to the theme, Home for the Holidays. Creativity is highly encouraged! All participating groups will be recognized for their support on Ridge Hill’s website and social media channels as well as with a placard next to their tree. The general public will be able to vote online at for their favorite tree, and the group that decorated the winning tree will be awarded not only bragging rights, but an enviable trophy and a package of treats from Ridge Hill’s shops and restaurants (valued at over $1,000).

“In a year filled with unprecedented challenges and hardship, we at Ridge Hill want to join together with our community to create a new tradition that brings happiness and cheer to what will be a very different holiday season for many,” said Meghann Hongach, Marketing Director, Ridge Hill.

The contest will officially launch on December 3, 2020 and voting will take place online at The voting public will be able to view the trees in person at Ridge Hill or in a photo gallery online. For each vote counted, Ridge Hill will donate $1 to Feeding Westchester (up to $5,000). Voting will end on December 20, 2020 and the winner will be announced on Monday, December 21, 2020 via Ridge Hill’s website and social media channels.

Throughout the length of the contest, Ridge Hill will also serve as a collection location for non-perishable food donations, raise money online through the Feeding Westchester website, and host meal kit packing days onsite to lend further support.

Ridge Hill is pleased to partner with Westchester Magazine as the official media sponsor of the Branches of Joy competition.
