Rey Insurance Donates For A Cause After “Shred It” Event

Wrapping up another year of taxes and getting into the season of Spring cleaning, Rey Insurance and Legal Shred of the Hudson Valley recently teamed up to provide a free shredding event to encourage community residents to properly destroy their old documents.

A part from freeing up space and getting rid of old documents like pay stubs, junk mail and other confidential papers, Rey Insurance raised awareness about the importance of shredding to protect and avoid the possibility of identity theft.

“There was a great turnout and we were excited to see so many people come out to our event”, said Linda Rey, principal of Rey Insurance, “In addition to helping protect our community from invasive privacy threats, we were happy to be able to raise money for our friends at the Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle.”

Dozens of local residents came out to participate in the shredding event, including Miss Westchester 2016, Morgan Modugno, and their inspirational furry friend, AJ. Rey’s Insurance donated $5.00 for each box received to the Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle.

“It was our pleasure to team with Rey Insurance to help the members of our community securely dispose of their confidential records. In addition to the value of protecting the public from the heartache and expense of identity theft, over the course of the event we also shred and recycled enough paper to save about 20 trees and 3 cubic yard of landfill,” said Judith H. Papo, Owner/President of Legal Shred of the Hudson Valley.

The event was sponsored by Travelers Insurance and took place at the Rey Insurance office located at 219 N. Broadway in Sleepy Hollow.
