New Commercial Bankers in Hudson Valley/Metro NY

KeyBank announced the recent expansion of its Commercial Banking Team in Hudson Valley/Metro NY with the promotion of Joseph P. McPheter to Sales Team Leader, Commercial Banking – North team, and the hiring of John Macken as Senior Banker, Commercial Banking – South team. Both new positions report to Market President David Lewing and were effective July 13, 2020.

McPheter will lead and expand the Metro New York – North team of commercial bankers responsible for customer service and new business development with middle market clients throughout Hudson Valley, New York City, northern New Jersey, Long Island, and Fairfield County, CT. He has more than 20 years of banking experience in the areas of retail, mortgage, business banking and middle market. McPheter joined KeyBank as a middle market relationship manager in 2011, bringing more than 11 years of experience from M&T Bank and Washington Mutual. Prior to that, he was an area manager for several larger retailers including Levitz, Seamans, and Sports Authority. He was also an entrepreneur, starting a commercial cleaning business, which he sold in 1999. Joe spent 13 years in Emergency Services as a First Lieutenant for the Spring Valley Fire Department, until his departure in 2003. McPheter is actively involved in his community and currently serves on the board of the Mid-Hudson Valley Patterns for Progress. He lives in Monroe, NY.

Macken will be responsible for developing new client relationships and growing existing ones by bringing Key’s full complement of customized financial solutions to middle market companies throughout the market. He joins KeyBank with 20 years of commercial banking experience, most recently with BB&T Capital Markets Corporate Banking division where he served since 2014 and was tasked to expand the commercial and industrial client base in the Northeast. He began his commercial banking career in 2000 with Bank of Scotland (now a part of Lloyds Bank). He also managed the auto and industrials US corporate team at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation; was the head of US corporate banking at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China; and was a relationship manager in the US corporate group at the United Overseas Bank. Macken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Springfield College in Massachusetts. He and his family live in Wilton CT.
