Levitt-Fuirst Volunteers Returned to Andrus for a Day of Giving at the HopeSpace Farm

Yonkers, NY – July 18, 2025 — On Thursday, July 17, 2025, Andrus welcomed back a
dedicated team of over 40 volunteers from Levitt-Fuirst Associates for a Day of Giving on
its Yonkers campus. The group spent the day working at the Hope Space Farm,
contributing time, energy, and heart to refresh and enhance the therapeutic farm
environment.

The Hope Space Farm, located on the Andrus campus, is home to alpacas, goats, sheep,
chickens, honeybees, and a play area for therapy dogs. It serves as a key component of
Andrus’ animal-assisted therapy program, which supports children receiving trauma
responsive care. The farm provides a calming, interactive space where children can
connect with animals and experience the emotional benefits of therapeutic engagement,
including reduced anxiety and improved emotional regulation.

Volunteers from Levitt-Fuirst—an independent insurance agency founded in 1969 by V.
David Levitt and Alan J. Fuirst—assisted with planting, painting, and general beautification
of the farm. Their work ensures the space will remain safe, vibrant, and welcoming for the
children who rely on it for healing and connection.

The event reflected Levitt-Fuirst’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community.
The firm has partnered with Andrus on multiple volunteer events over the years,
demonstrating a shared belief in the power of service to uplift and transform.

Melissa Cruz, a volunteer from Levitt-Fuirst who helped coordinate the visit, reflected on
the day’s impact:

“The saying ‘what a difference a day makes’ explains yesterday for us. The day brought so
much joy and feelings of accomplishment. Everyone worked hard and got so much done!”

Corine E. Lurry-Mabin, CEO of Andrus, shared her appreciation:

“It was such a joy to see so many familiar faces back on campus. I’m deeply grateful for
the longstanding relationship we’ve built with Levitt-Fuirst. Their dedication to our mission
and their consistent presence over the years means so much to the children and staff at
Andrus.”

Through hands-on efforts like this, Andrus and Levitt-Fuirst continue to show how strong
community partnerships can create spaces where children can grow, thrive, and heal.
