Leading National Publicists to Teach Entrepreneurs “How to Get Press” at 92nd Street Y Presentation
Jennefer Witter, the CEO/Founder of The Boreland Group Inc., today announced she will be presenting on “How to Get Press” at the 92nd Street Y (located on 1395 Lexington Avenue in New York City) on Tuesday, July 31 at 7 PM. Filomena Fanelli, the CEO of Hudson Valley, New York-based Impact PR & Communications, will co-present. Online registration is available at https://www.92y.org/event/how-to-get-press.aspx.
“Getting media is the holy grail for business owners,” notes Witter, who was named as one of the country’s top ten black CEOs/entrepreneurs by Madame Noire Magazine. “Filomena and I will pull back the curtain and share PR ‘secrets’ on how entrepreneurs can generate press for their businesses.”
Attendees will also learn how to leverage press placements to generate additional media, as well as how to use coverage to define and differentiate their businesses from the competition.
“Today’s business environment is hyper-competitive,” says Witter. “Media can be a tool for entrepreneurs to get their ‘unfair share’ of business-building attention.” Witter and Fanelli have placed clients in local, regional and national media such as The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Daily News, TheStreet.com, the Harvard Business Review and Spectrum News NY1.
“Earned media is getting more difficult to acquire,” says Fanelli. “We’ll discuss emerging communication channels such as podcasts and TwitterChats that are becoming influential, and attendees’ need to review those outlets in addition to traditional press opportunities so that they can move their business objectives forward.”
Fanelli is a 20-year public relations veteran, whose speaking credentials include presentations with the Public Relations Society of America, Women’s Leadership Alliance, Professional Women of Westchester and Dutchess Tourism, among others.
Witter is a long-time instructor at the 92nd Street Y. “Jennefer is a popular educator,” says Christine Chen, 92Y’s director of adult programming. “Attendees will walk away from this presentation with actionable information that they can immediately implement into their business models.”
