Hope’s Door NY opens new Hope’s Door Legal Center
HAWTHORNE, NY (February 19, 2019) Hope’s Door is excited to announce receipt of a five-year grant award of more than $1.9 million from the New York State Office of Victim Services to launch the Hope’s Door Legal Center. Stacey Neumann, who brings 17 years of experience in the Domestic Violence Bureau in the Brooklyn D.A.’s office, will serve as Director of Legal Services at the Center, assisted by Staff Attorney Mia Pergolizzi.
“I am so excited to start a legal services program at Hope’s Door. As a former Domestic Violence Prosecutor, I learned first-hand that victims are best served by comprehensive and collaborative partnerships between advocates and attorneys,” said Neumann.
The Hope’s Door office in Hawthorne has been expanded and renovated to house the Legal Service Center. At the Center, Neumann and Pergolizzi will help victims seeking orders of protection, pursuing divorces, establishing custody, and fighting for child support, among other civil legal needs. The center anticipates serving 100 clients in this inaugural year.
“I am looking forward to working in conjunction with the amazing staff at Hope’s Door and furthering our organization’s mission, by providing legal representation to existing and new clients,” said Pergolizzi.
Our funder requires a 25% match – almost $100,000 per year in donations from sources other than the federal government. If you would like to support the Legal Center, please contact Barbara Turk, Director of Development & Community Relations, at 914-747-0828 x1016 or BTurk@HopesDoorNY.org.
