HHREC and Iona College William H. Donat Holocaust Commemoration
Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center and Iona College-William H. Donat Shoah Commemoration: Teaching the Holocaust Where It Happened
Dr. Annamaria Orla-Bukowska, a social anthropologist at the Institute of Sociology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, will discuss how the Holocaust is addressed in countries that were occupied by the Third Reich. It is important to address the perpetration of, collaboration in, and witnessing of the destruction of their Jewish compatriots. No country has to face this more than Poland. This places an extraordinary responsibility upon Polish society today to teach about the Shoah to its own citizens as well as facilitate learning for citizens from around the world.
The event is free and open to all.
Monday, April 16, 7:30 PM
