GBP Receives Grant from the Westchester Community Foundation
The Green Business Partnership (GBP), a membership organization that helps businesses become sustainable and achieve green certification, has received a grant of $25,000 from the Westchester Community Foundation. The funds will be used to expand membership in the GBP, to provide technical assistance and coaching to member organizations so they may achieve green certification, and to train and place college students as sustainability interns.
“The Westchester Community Foundation’s ongoing support has enabled us to grow our membership, provide hands-on support to businesses that are working toward certification, and make more of an impact.” said Dani Glaser, Program Director of the Green Business Partnership.
Any organization that leases or owns commercial or industrial space can join the Green Business Partnership and use its comprehensive, customizable digital toolkit and propriety emissions tool to earn an official green certification. More than 150 businesses and nonprofits are members, and 57 have achieved certification since the GBP launched its official accreditation in 2014. These organizations use their certification to save money, increase competitiveness, and recruit and engage employees.
“Because of the Green Business Partnership, Westchester’s business community leads the region in the ongoing effort to create a sustainable future,” said Laura Rossi, Executive Director of the Westchester Community Foundation. “The GBP provides tools and assistance to local business leaders so that they can adopt strategies that will have a long-lasting impact. The Westchester Community Foundation is pleased to have supported this program since 2014 and celebrate its growth.”
