Fullerton Beck Names Alison O’Dwyer Chair of the Firm’s Medical Malpractice Group
Fullerton Beck, a prominent women-owned insurance defense law firm based in White Plains, NY, proudly announces the appointment of Alison O’Dwyer as Chair of its Medical Malpractice Group.
With more than 25 years of experience in medical malpractice law and prior to that, several years as a registered nurse, O’Dwyer helped establish the firm’s practice group in 2020 when she joined the firm. She brings a wealth of legal and medical knowledge to help serve Fullerton Beck’s professional healthcare clients.
O’Dwyer focuses her practice on defending hospitals and healthcare professionals in high-exposure complex medical malpractice claims. Her dual experience in law and medicine allows her to swiftly and accurately analyze claims while crafting effective litigation strategies. As a former medical professional, O’Dwyer understands the stress and impact a claim could impose on a medical professional or practice, and as such, she works diligently to resolve matters in the most efficient manner possible.
“I am honored and excited to lead the Medical Malpractice Group at Fullerton Beck,” said O’Dwyer. “Our skilled team serves the region’s largest hospital groups and long-term care facilities with dedication and frontline experience. I look forward to continuing to grow the practice we established four years ago. It is a privilege to work alongside such talented team members under supportive leadership.”
Representing a diverse array of clients, including hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and various allied healthcare professionals, O’Dwyer handles malpractice claims across all medical specialties. These range from obstetrical cases and failure to diagnose cancer to claims of negligent surgical performance.
Additionally, she represents medical professionals in civil litigation and proceedings before the Department of Health, addressing issues such as medication dependency, inappropriate borders, medication side effects, suicide, and diagnoses of behavioral, personality, and mood disorders.
“With Alison’s robust medical background, legal acumen, and leadership skills, she is the ideal person to assume the helm of our Medical Malpractice Group,” said Eileen Fullerton, Managing Partner. “We look forward to her leadership and know she will continue the firm’s tradition of excellence in legal defense.”
O’Dwyer is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.
