David C. Wilkes Elected President of the NAPTA

Award-winning Westchester County lawyer David C. Wilkes has been elected president of the National Association of Property Tax Attorneys. Wilkes co-founded the national tax attorney association and served in several leadership positions over the past 14 years. The non-profit professional membership association aims to increase awareness and understanding about property tax issues, promote public education about this important sector of the law and unite selected tax attorneys across the country. Wilkes, founder and owner of Wilkes Law Group, a boutique real property litigation firm, is a former chair of The Appraisal Foundation, chartered by Congress, which establishes national appraisal standards and appraiser qualification requirements. Also a former chair of the American Bar Association Property Tax Committee, he served as editor-in-chief of the New York State Bar Association Journal, a monthly publication with a circulation of some 74,000 attorneys and judges. His extensive international experience includes serving as director of corporate services at the International Property Tax Institute, based in Toronto and a member of the Legal Committee at the International Association of Assessing Officers. In addition, he is a fellow at the London-based Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the world’s largest organization of property advisors. Wilkes regularly provides legal and advisement services to governments in Europe, Africa and the Middle East regarding development issues and foreign investment. Beyond his professional activities, Wilkes is a co-founder and president of Roost Studios, Inc., a not-for-profit community arts center in New Paltz, N. Y., which promotes the visual, performing and written arts in the mid-Hudson River valley, among other pursuits. http://www.wilkeslawgroup.com/ – Wilkes Law Group
